Verlan owned the car long before He met his Wife Barbara. He bought it when he was 17 or so. It stayed in his parent's garage till he was done with college and the Navy. When Verlan and Barbara returned from Hawaii in 1964 the car was towed to Texas and it "lived" in their yard .
Then in 1969 it was towed to Milwaukee .
(There is a picture somewhere of the procession ).
A rental moving truck and the Model A towed behind.
Once in Milwaukee Verlan rented a garage for storage . Then in 1971 it was towed to Dacada. Eventually he tore down the small one car garage and started building the mansion for the Model A. He told Barbara early on that he would have a garage that was bigger than the house. She didn't believe it at the time , but ..... as it turns out..he did.
Barbara recalls along the way to wisconsin a man offered to purchase it right then at the rest area. "We should have taken him up on that. :-)) " She says.
When Bill and Bob were young they played in it and once they were caught pouring sand into the gas tank (for play gas). Another time they got into the fertilizer and threw it all over the car.
Verlan had another Model A in Hawaii that he worked on. The fenders were in their dining room for a long time and were used as a slide by their son Bill .
